What the apps process locally
Just Speak processes microphone audio to create dictation text. Hereon processes system or meeting audio to create live captions, translations, transcripts, and summaries. The apps may store local settings, license status, model preferences, history, transcripts, exports, and logs on your Mac.
Audio and transcript handling
By default, speech recognition and AI cleanup or translation run on your device. We do not receive your audio, transcripts, captions, notes, meeting content, or dictation history through the default local mode.
Canvas Relay documents and local network connections
Canvas Relay stores your canvas documents and imported presentation resources on your iPad. During a presentation, it sends only the canvas document state and required resources to a Mac that you explicitly approve on the same local network. The connection is encrypted and Canvas Relay does not upload your drawings, PDF pages, images, or presentation content to Swingby or a third-party server. The Mac keeps only a temporary session cache for the active presentation.
Optional cloud features
Just Speak offers an optional cloud speech-to-text beta using a provider account and API key supplied by you. The local speech-recognition engine remains the default. Before you enable cloud transcription, the app explains that your recorded audio will be sent directly from the app to the OpenAI or Groq API you select. API usage is billed by that provider under your account. File-based cloud models send audio after recording ends; OpenAI's live transcription model sends audio chunks while you are recording so that it can return partial transcripts.
Swingby does not proxy or receive the provider API key, audio, or resulting transcript. The API key is encrypted using the operating system's secure storage. A recording that fails because of a temporary cloud error may remain only in app memory for up to 60 seconds so that you can explicitly retry once; it is not written to disk and is discarded when you retry, start a new recording, change settings, close the app, or the timer expires. The selected provider processes data under its own customer terms and data policies: OpenAI API data usage and Groq policies and notices.
Licensing and payments
Paid licenses are sold through Polar. Polar processes checkout, payment, tax, receipt, customer portal, and license-key issuance data. The apps or Swingby's license server may send license keys, activation identifiers, app identifiers, app versions, and basic device activation metadata to validate purchases and enforce activation limits. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers. Canvas Relay version 1 does not require an account, license key, or payment to use its local presentation features.
Telemetry
The apps are designed without product analytics or behavioral telemetry by default. If diagnostics, crash reports, or analytics are added in the future, they will be documented before release and, where appropriate, made optional.
Website and infrastructure
Our website and license services may be hosted through infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare. These providers may process ordinary technical data such as IP address, request metadata, timestamps, and security logs to operate and protect the service.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Canvas Relay's Mac presentation cache is temporary. Payment and license records are retained as needed to provide the license, handle support, prevent fraud, and meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations. You can contact us to request help with account, support, or license data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the products, licensing, or infrastructure change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
